Twitter - the latest, tiny Social Networking Tool is proving to be a powerful, free marketing platform for Restaurants to reach their most avid fans and new potential customers, alike. Twitter has about 9 million users currently, so it is smaller than Facebook and MySpace. The service allows you to connect with anyone else who is on Twitter without permission. Generally speaking, new users choose to "follow" current users in hopes that they will return the favor.
Twitter is a Microblog and was not easily understood by most people at its inception. The thought was that Twitter was just a lot of people sharing completely useless information. WRONG!! The real benefit is getting your message out and building a very loyal Community of Followers.

- Be pithy and direct - Twitter limits tweets to 140 characters.
- Be relevant - make the tweets from your restaurant and engage your followers.

- Make sure that you Twitter with "one voice" - be consistent.
- Link Twitter to your other Social Networking Sites.
- Be selective in who you follow, build a core following.
- Expect your follower counts to fluctuate - its a new world and not stable, yet.
